“Clasroom intervention in inhibitory control in children with and without language disorders”.

Jorge L. Guirado, Eva M. Aguilar, Victor Sánchez-Azanza, Mario Valera and Daniel Adrover, members of the I+DElab, have published an article in the magazine “Revista de Investigación en Logopedia” in their special issue of 2021, entitled “Clasroom  intervention  in  inhibitory  control  in  children  with  and  without  language  disorders” https://doi.org/10.5209/rlog.69256

The objective was to evaluate the impact of a school-based intervention on inhibitory control carried out in several upper elementary classrooms (9-11 years old) with students with Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) or dyslexia and their classmates without difficulties. This intervention had only a slight effect in all groups on phonological memory. However, a lower performance in verbal fluency and inhibitory control could be observed in students with TDL compared to their peers, which may indicate a possible improvement in students with dyslexia and those without difficulties. In conclusion, this intervention had little effect for the intervened students, particularly for the TDL group. This article indicates the importance of continuing to increase research on educational interventions in classrooms with students with diverse educational needs.
