We have published a new article on cyberbullying on the science communication platform The Conversation.
In Spain, nearly 50% of young people aged 12 to 17 have experienced some sort of online aggression, although only 10% meet the clinical definition of cyberbullying. This type of violence is characterized by repetition, the intent to harm, and the emotional impact on the victim. Unlike face-to-face bullying, digital harassment can persist over time and occur at any moment, amplifying its psychological consequences.
Prevention requires collaboration between families, schools, and the responsible use of technology. Setting clear rules, promoting emotional education, and encouraging critical and safe use of social media are key measures to protect adolescents and reduce the risks of cyberbullying.
